This romantic cottage nestles into the hillside overlooking the beautiful Cher valley in n the interesting and historic village of Bourré (see location map) in the beautiful Loire Valley Region of France close to Chateau de Chenonceau, Amboise, Chateau Chambord and Montrichard, within 5 minutes walk of the village shops, and 5 minutes drive or 20 minutes walk from Montrichard.  It is in the heart of Loire Chateaux country also for visiting the vineyards and great restaurants

The river Cher is only 5 minutes away and is lovely for walking.  We have bicycles so you can visit the surrounding countryside along the tow path and quiet lanes;  we are minutes from Montrichard forest with its criss-crossing routes.

Our cottages are situated in the heart of chateau country in the Loire Valley, valley of the French Kings.  We are well placed for visiting these wonderful historic castles;  favourites include Chenonceau (just a short drive or cycle ride), Amboise, Blois, Chambord, Chaumont and Cheverny, and west of Tours, Villandry, Ussé, Azay-le-Rideau..

We are also in the centre of the Touraine wine growing region;  our local wines are the Gamay grape, Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc.  We are close to Vouvray renowned for its dry and sweet wines made with the Chenin grape.  We are also within an hour’s drive of Chinon, Saumur and Bourgeuil renowned for their Cabernet Franc.  Chinon is particularly interesting with its mediaeval streets and it was the site of the very first French Parliament.Visit Sancerre and Pouilly only a two hour drive by motorway and across country from the mediaeval city of Bourges, itself famous for its Cathedral.  (scroll down for more pictures and information)

Maison Requin summer time
  • suitable for a couple, or a couple with a young child

  • large living room with luxury corner kitchen, open fireplace for log fires

  • superb upstairs shower room

  • large romantic bedroom with double bed , and wonderful views across the Cher valley

  • terrace with views across the valley, BBQ

  • linen hire available

  • cot and folding bed available

  • bicycles

The cottage is built of stone with one very large room downstairs;  the upstairs was the old grain loft and the window overlooking the street still bears the marks of years of sacks being dragged across the threshold.  We have created a lovely comfortable bedroom with fantastic views across the Cher Valley, also a luxury shower room.

Living room and kitchen
Pine electric fitted kitchen, spacious 'séjour' with two comfortable armchairs, cool in the heat of summer and warmed by a blazing log fire in the winter.

The terrace (raised area in front of the door) has wonderful views over the valley and the river and is in full sun all day long.   The lovely garden is shared between the two cottages sitting out / eating areas are not overlooked.   Maison Requin is higher on the hillside than Maison la Grange so is not overlooked, and has the most wonderful views.

We just wanted you to know what a wonderful holiday we had and such a pleasant stay at Maison Requin. The cottage was lovely, comfortable, clean and peaceful. We're pleased we chose it.  Thanks for your help - Eve, Iain and Hazel

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and had some lovely weather. It had been some years since we visited the Loire region but last time we stayed to the west of Tours, so it was good to see the east this time - Gaye

We had a wonderful time - the cottage was perfect for our needs. Thank you - Lynn

We had a very pleasant stay.  CP Dawe

We had a most enjoyable holiday and found your property a most excellent and well equipped / furnished holiday let it was ideally placed for our purposes and we loved the location.  David

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and appreciated the high standard and location of the accommodation.  The weather was fantastic and. having taken our own bikes, we cycled 8 out of 9 days of our stay.  We clocked up 390 miles and visits included Amboise, Blois, Tours, Chambord, Blere, St Aignan, the Sologne area and numerous other small towns and villages, all by bike.  We only resorted to the car on one day to visit Chinon.  The area is so cycle friendly - flat quiet roads and numerous other cycle tracks plus the respect that French dirvers show to cyclists in general - that is by far the best way to see and get close to the surrounding countryside, towns and villages.  Plus it gives you a healthy appetite for the local food and drink.  Thanks again for giving us a wonderful base for a great holiday.  Best regards.  Bob 15.9.10
