Today is Wednesday, we have been on our accustomed trip (30 minutes dirves through pretty countryside with LOTS of wild life to see inncluding a green woodpecker and geron today!). As its New Year the market was fairly quiet, we still bought a lovely selection of vegetables and salads including heritage carrots (red an yellow, pissenlit (blanched dandelion), lovely big garlic, and of course - oysters. Hotel de France was closed (they are one of the best restaurantss around) so we went to the Cafe des Beaux Arts - what a good lunch and extremely cheap, we ate the dsihes of the day, shell fish gratin and casseroled wild boar! Washed down with a carafe of Saumur (a Cabernet Franc). We'll be going again next week!
