13 Route des Couldraies, Vrigny, 41400 St Georges sur Cher
From Calais Two options – A26 then A1 to Paris – or – A16 / A28 to Rouen
A 26 to Arras, join A 1 south to Charles de Gaulle airport (north Paris). Take the right fork A 3 to the Peripherique east, following signs to Bordeaux keeping in the left hand lane all the way (we prefer the peripherique to the A86 so give the first fork to Bordeaux a miss it can get very busy).
Round the south east peripherique interieur (2 o’clock to 7 o’clock) to Porte d’Italie
A 6b. Following signs to Bordeaux and keep to the right hand lanes, south to the A 10 (there are lots of left forks to avoid). Follow A 10 south west direction Bordeaux, to Orleans. Fork off and continue south on the A71 to Vierzon. You can now take the new Autoroute A85 from Vierzon; continue south from Orleans rather than A10 to Blois / Tours as far as Vierzon then take the A85 west to St. Aignan and the N76 to St Georges sur Cher.
A16 / 28 via Boulogne and Rouen is quite a nice ride, much quieter road. Take the autoroute to Rouen and then south to Tours via Le Mans. Conue on the A10 through Tours crossing the River Loire and turn east on the A85 signed to Vierzon. Follow this to the Blere / Chenonceaux turn. This brings you onto the Blere by-pass, drive a signed ti Vierzon / Montrichard through to the St Georges turn-off (a Y junction).
A13 / A154 / N154
From Rouen an alternative route is the A13 direction Paris then junction 19 A154 to Evreux / Dreux; next take the N154 dual carriageway route to Chartres and then south on A154 to Orleans picking up the A10 – this avoids Paris and is a good straight route south speeds of around 90 Km. after the motorway section north of Chartres. This in my opinion is the most direct and avoids holiday traffic.
From Pairs through Blois
At Orleans continue on A10 towards Tours to Blois junction. Exit Blois, follow signs to Limoges bis - this takes you across the Loire. Take right turn and follow along the south bank of the Loire to roundabout the other side of Blois, then turn south sign posted to Montrichard. Continue to Montrichard, cross the bridge in the middle of the town to join the N76 west (towards Tours), continue to the St Georges junction and turn left, then right.
St Georges sur Cher
From Montrichard, drive through the village past the Vrigny sign and turn left after the bridge and opposite the bus shelter, this is Route des Couldraies. We are up the hill on the left, number 13. If lost ask in St Georges. From Blere our turn is on the right opposite the garden centre.
From Caen / Tours
N 158 south to Sees, join N 138 south to Alençon and Le Mans through to Tours.….. or better maybe – there is now a new motorway south from Rouen direct ot Tours.
Turn off north of Tours through Vouvray and follow the road towards Amboise, cross the Loire just after Vouvray and follow signs to Bléré - go through Bléré, and on past the Chenonceaux turning. Past the Restaurant on the right (Relais des Chateaux), next fork right takes you into the village towards St Georges. Turn right opposite the garden centre, a tiny road (take the second just before the bridge opposite the bus shelter if you miss the first), right again into Routes des Couldraies and up the hill, the cottages are on the left, number 13.
